Family planning, adequate child birth spacing will reduce maternal mortality in Nigeria to at least 30 percent.
Addressing Muslim faithful on Saturday at Warri Central Mosque, the Reproductive Health Coordinator Ministry of Health Delta State, Dr. Christian Tetsola said hundreds of thousands of women and children suffer deficiencies due to lack of child spacing.
urged the people to adhere to the sensitization on child spacing in order to have a healthy family.
Dr. Tetsola during an awareness campaign organized by TCI in collaboration with Delta State ministry of Health charged the participants to adhere carefully to the different methods of family planning, adding that Delta state government through the ministry of health has provided free services for family planning.
Delta State Coordinator, The Challenge Initiative an NGO, Mrs. Nwanne Kalu enjoined the Muslim brothers and sisters to feel free to walk into any Primary Health Care Centre in Delta state to seek for advise on how to go about the different methods of family planning free of charge.
The Challenge Initiative, TCI Coordinator, Mrs. Nwanne commended the Islamic leader in Delta state, Alhaji Ahmed Mustapha and the Chief Imam, Warri Central Mosque, Alhaji Abdul Rashed-Ajisafe for the opportunity granted them to speak to their members in the state.
Chairman League of Imam Delta State, Alhaji Ahmed Mustapha commended the Delta State ministry of Health for their effort in reaching out to the participants, whilr assuring the ministry to further spread the campaign to across the state.
Others who spoke include Chief Nursing Officer, Mrs. Agbonkhese Clara, TCI Social Mobilizer, Andrew Arome, trained Islamic scholar, Mohammed Yahaya Ufuoma, Alfa Isah Musa.
