Traders and Shop owners at Atakumosa Central Market, Ilesa, Osun State have been counting their loss as an early hours fire guts a part of the market.
The fire outbreak, according to Administrative Officer of Osun State Fire Service, Fatai Aremu, started around wee hours of Tuesday, adding that several goods worth millions of naira were lost to the inferno.
He stated that many shops were already on fire and several goods burnt before the quick response by the police and fire fighters.
Aremu said the cause of the inferno is still sketchy but investigation is still underway and necessary information about the incident will be made available to appropriate quarters.
Confirming the incident, Osun State Police command spokesperson, Folasade Odoro, told our correspondent there were no casualities but several shops were razed.
She said the command got informed of the incident and mobilised to the scene around 1:20 am, adding that the cause of the fire had not been known
