A Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party and Chairman of Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi, on Tuesday, rejoiced with Master Akintade Abdullahi, a student of Osogbo Grammar School for emerging the best Nigerian Young Scientist in the recently concluded National Examination of the 774 Young Nigerian Scientists Presidential Award, held in Abuja.

Imploring Abdullahi not to rest on the laurel, Akin Ogunbiyi extolled teachers and other individuals who had in one way or the other contributed to the feat.

He noted that Akintade’s emergence as the best young scientist despite “the deteriorating educational system and meagre welfare of teachers in Osun attest to the fact that no feat is too big to achieve for the determined.”

He stated further, “Osun state had appreciable standard of education before the system was grounded. People have witnessed unimaginable policies and survived against all odds.”

“The emergence of Master Akintade Abdullahi as the best young scientist in Nigeria alludes to the clear separation of levels and further puts meaning to individuality versus ‘institutionalily’ debate. Despite his rough background and the instability in the education sector here, Akintade stands out against all odds.”

“This is another proof that Osun state is indeed filled with intellectuals and that our penchant for success and excellence is not eroded. By this message, we congratulate Akintade Abdullahi and also extend our warm greetings to teachers in Osun who have been working day and night but have not be duly rewarded.”

“We also encourage other youths to emulate the young scholar, to shun frivolous activities and to strive towards excellence and make hay while the sun shines without forgetting that those who dance away their youthful age or waste the potentials that God has deposited into them will have themselves to blame – sooner or later. ”
