A Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo had on Thursday, convicted four persons for violating stay-at-home government directives.

The convicts are; Moshood Akinwale, 28, Oladimeji Sadique, 24, Dauda Abdullahi, 22, and Adewale Taofeeq, 28.

The Police Prosecutor, Mr. Kayode Adeoye, alleged that the defendants committed the crime on April 9, 2020, at about 12:10 pm, at Dugbe area, Opposite Freedom Park, Osogbo.

According to the charge sheet, the crime contravened the provisions of sections 203 and 249(d) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol 11, Laws of Osun state, 2002.

The defendants admitted guilty of the two-count charges of disobedience and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.

The Counsel to the four convicts, Mr. Oladipupo Olatunbosun, urged the court to be lenient in sentencing them, noting that they have regretted their action. He urged the court to warn and discharge them, considering the prison decongestion plan by the federal government.

The Magistrate, Mr. Olusegun Ayilara, who had earlier convicted the defendants, thereby cautioned and discharged them.
